Review: Bass Pro Shops CarbonLite Baitcast Rod and Reel

27May10

Is your Dad or Hubby an avid fisherman?  Then look no further for his gift this year because you’ve found it!  The Bass Pro Shops CarbonLite Baitcast Rod and Reel is simply amazing! Not only does it’s physical features look sharp and stunning but it’s one of the best quality rod & reel combos on the market, not to mention one of the lightest!  I’m positive Dad will be absolutely THRILLED to receive this for Father’s Day!

Description from Bass Pro:

Bass Pro Shops® CarbonLite™ Bait Reel:
One of the lightest baitcasters available today, built inside and out with an eye toward keeping the weight way down and the strength way up. You won’t believe how a 6.7 oz. reel can enhance your casting and retrieving, as well as your sense of feel. Its Recurve handle is made of carbon fiber, a space-age material that’s 30% lighter than, but still as strong as, aircraft-grade aluminum; the one frame is high-end aluminum; the sideplates are premier graphite. We built in plenty of Duralumin, the super-hard aluminum alloy used in aircraft making, both inside (drive gear, crankshaft) and out (double-anodized spool, wormshaft) to keep the featherweight theme intact. Performance features include a quality 7-bearing system with double-shielded stainless steel ball bearings and Powerlock™ instant anti-reverse, externally adjustable Dual Braking System, advanced heat- and corrosion-resistant Rulon® drag, and a ti-coated line guide.

Bass Pro Shops® CarbonLite™ Trigger Rod:
A CarbonLite rod is a thing of beauty, built on an ultra-rich carbon-fiber blank that compares favorably to 85 million modulus (IM9) graphite. Sleek, smooth carbon fiber transmits vibrations instantly and weighs much less than standard materials, yet has hookset power to spare. The guides are special: feather-light, stealth-black, Pacific Bay® DLC stainless steel frames with titanium-carbide inserts and a PVD (physical vapor deposition) coating to make them extra-slick and damage-resistant. Split handles with P-Tec poly-foam grips (and virtually no foregrip) keep weight low and blank contact high; our two-piece Soft Touch reel seat is light, comfortable, and bridgeless, exposing significantly more blank area to direct hand contact.
